Tuesday, June 9th, 2015

Однор2Interview with Oleg Odnorozhenko, the deputy commander of the “Azov” regiment for personnel work, PhD in History and heraldist by Olena Semenyaka, coordinator of the Department of International Relations of the “Azov” regiment “Azov Reconquista.”

– Glory to Ukraine!

– Glory to Heroes!

  1. Mr. Oleg, I analyzed FAQs by the foreign supporters of the “Azov” regiment and readers of the page “Azov Reconquista,” and the first of them concerns the connection between “Social-National Assembly” and worldview of the “Azov” regiment. Are there any ideological elements that were adopted by the latter in its manifests, policy documents, etc.?

Right Sector. Interview for Croatian Creativity Movement

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014

RS2This interview was sent to the contact person of Croatian Creativity Movement on August 13. Since then the political situation in Ukraine changed again, so I have to make a few updates:

1. Not so long ago, when Right Sector’s members were detained, beaten and disarmed after their return from East Ukraine, Dmytro Yarosh was ready to leave the zone of ATO and turn against the corrupt officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, especially Volodymyr Evdokimov, but MIA Avakov and the Cabinet of Ministers promised to fire him, so Yarosh cancelled his threat. However, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hasn’t recognized Volunteer Ukrainian Corps “Right Sector” yet as an official governmental structure, so further clashes with the key figures of his regime are possible, especially after the treacherous destruction of the volunteer battalions near Ilovaysk, which is under investigation now.

Recently Right Sector’s activists started the wave of so-called #trashbucketchallenge actions, which consist in public throwing a corrupt politician in the dumpster. Right Sector’s electoral lists are ready, Dmytro Yarosh decided to run for parliamentary election in the Dnipropetrovsk region and sucessfully entered the Parliament. …read more

Right Sector. Interview for Traditional.RIGHT

Monday, September 1st, 2014

James Harmon

1.Hi Olena, before we start I wanted to congratulate you on your appointment to the position of Press Secretary for Right Sector. We have talked for some time now on and off, and given your very capable writing skills,  your vibrant and powerful intellect, I think they could not have picked a better choice. I also wanted to congratulate you on the victory of the Ukrainian people over the corrupt regime of Yanukovitch, it is a truly inspiring thing to see.

Hi James, firstly, thank you for your congratulations! Although it was an overthrow rather than accomplished National Revolution, the spirit of the latter has been awoken, and the massive patriotic consolidation in our country, not mentioning ascension of the Ukrainian Right, surprises us even more than this miraculous victory.

Secondly, many thanks for your high assessment of my intellectual abilities that (I hope) will be put into service of our cause to a full extent! Perhaps the term “Press Secretary” is not a very precise description of my duties, for even though I took responsibility for the relations of Right Sector with the foreign nationalist movements and organizations, I set a more complex goal for myself that requires strategic thinking, indeed. …read more

Agony of Information Campaign Against Right Sector

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014

P1130488Den

No sooner had my name appeared on the list of contacts for Right Sector (as Press Secretary for relations with foreign nationalist movements and organizations) than did the Leftist Ukrainophobe Mark Sleboda, a former Internet friend, and who is still closely watching my Facebook page, began posting “defamatory photos” of me on social media, late at night. They show me holding a flag with a swastika, to which was added the following morning a photo of me with the Russian Eurasianist philosopher Alexander Dugin, this time in order to intimidate the Ukrainian audience – on whose initiative this was done, I do not know. Sleboda, who is close to Komsomolskaya Pravda on the Russian news channel Russia Today, even cut ties with the well-known editor of traditionalist and “New Right” literature John Morgan, calling him a “fascist,” despite the fact that his publishing house, Arktos, is one of Dugin’s publishers – apparently because John supported the Ukrainian revolution, delivered a lecture in the occupied Kyiv City Council and has offered the possibility of publishing books related to Ukrainian nationalism and the Maidan. Sleboda likewise shared my contact information on his own page and introduced me as “a post-graduate student of philosophy, a member of the Ukrainian Traditionalist Club, a scholar of the Conservative Revolution, a charismatic intellectual, fluent in English, etc.,” only in order to end this tribute with the image of the supposedly proud fascist, waving the Nazi flag and saluting an imaginary Führer. …read more

Rudolf Otto’s “The Idea of the Holy” as the turning point in religious studies

Thursday, October 31st, 2013

Le SacreOriginal title: Rudolf Otto “Das Heilige – Über das Irrationale in der Idee des Göttlichen und sein Verhältnis zum Rationalen” (“The Idea of the Holy. An Inquiry into the Non-rational Factor in the Idea of the Divine and its Relation to the Rational” (1917, translated in English by John W. Harvey in 1923)). One of the most important books in the field of phenomenology of religion (most prominent representatives are Friedrich Schleiermacher, Nathan Söderblom, Gerardus van der Leeuw, Mircea Eliade), a discipline which studies not man’s relation to God or gods, but the phenomenon of the Sacred (das Heilige) and various forms of its manifestation throughout history (compare with Mircea Eliade’s “hierophanies,” that is appearances of the sacred). …read more

Ernst Jünger’s “On the Marble Cliffs” as a Parable of Staying True to Yourself

Sunday, October 27th, 2013

Marmorklippen“There are periods of decline when the pattern fades to which our inmost life must conform. When we enter upon them we sway and lose our balance. From hollow joy we sink to leaden sorrow, and past and future acquire a new charm from our sense of loss. So we wander aimlessly in the irretrievable past or in distant Utopias; but the fleeting moment we cannot grasp.”

“So I swear to myself in the future to fall alone in freedom rather than to accompany the servants on the path to triumph.”

ERNST JÜNGER AS AN ICON OF “THE FASCIST STYLE”: THE IDEOLOGICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL IMPLICATIONS

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

I. Ernst Jünger as an author of New Nationalism: the Fascist Style vs. Official National Socialist Ideology

It is hard to complain about a lack of attention to Ernst Jünger’s personality and authorship. In spite of his “dubious past”[1] and as opposed to lots of his comrades-in-arms, he has gained recognition in lifetime. Moreover, he himself has become an object of study, one must admit, a rather challenging one: too many questions and controversies surround his mysterious character. As a celebrity and an acknowledged German icon, Jünger hasn’t left them unanswered; however, the mystery remained, because in many cases hints, omissions and especially emphatic silence were his very answer.

The same goes for Ernst Jünger’s creativity that lasted for about eighty years. It’s no wonder that his legacy has been studied in terms of a considerable variety of discourses (from the philological to the political), which reflects richness of the genres that he has mastered; for instance, the reports about LSD-trips are no less integral part of Jünger’s bibliography than far-right journalism or the war diaries. Likewise, it corresponds with multitude of Jünger’s talents and thus sub-personalities for biographical investigation: Jünger as a writer and a journalist, Jünger as a military and a warrior, Jünger as an aesthete and a dandy, Jünger as an entomologist and insect collector, and, finally, Jünger as a leader of National Revolutionaries and a prominent theorist of Conservative Revolution. Furthermore, Jünger’s ideological and political identity has also been a subject of lasting debates that vary over the range from “Jünger as a godfather of fascism” to “Jünger as a hidden liberal”[2]. The most popular issues for inquiry, as one may easily guess, are connected with Jünger’s relations with National Socialism and the infamous “Jewish question.” …read more

When The Gods Hear The Call: The Conservative-Revolutionary Potential Of Black Metal Art

I. Black Metal: a Subculture or a Counterculture? Methodological Foundations

Black Metal shares the fate of all complex and multifaceted phenomena that transcend their narrow genre identities and, similar to Hegel’s philosopher who is able to “grasp an era through thought,” are always ahead of their time, either by affirming, or by totally rejecting the spiritual foundations of the time period in which they live. Both require an ability to examine it from a distance. As the unquestionable product of Modernity, Black Metal paradoxically issues a death sentence to the Modern world. The latter is the case not only with respect to contemporary Christianity: it is the antithesis to everything that is believed to be of any value for an average representative of today’s Western society: from the conventional notions of the good and the beautiful to the metaphysical Being itself. In other words, Black Metal, at a glance, is the very embodiment of an active-nihilistic phase in a metaphysical process of transvaluation of all values heralded by Friedrich Nietzsche. This is the second reason why Black Metal is mostly defined apophatically, that is to say, from negation. I have already mentioned the first reason for this: despite Black Metal’s prevalent description as a subculture, it is more accurate to define it as a counterculture the goal of which is to terminate the entire Modern era. …read more

Transformation of Ernst Jünger’s Alternative to the Bourgeois Individual

Introduction

Ernst Jünger’s personality and writings have always been surrounded by heated debates between his admirers and haters. Quite expectedly, the main source of this passionate attitude lays in Ernst Jünger’s biography, namely his undeniable ideological commitment in the development of National Socialism (1). Although in philosophical-political relation he is a foremost member of the Conservative Revolution, the later is equally arguable phenomenon because of its historical connectedness with the totalitarian regimes. …read more
